Fashion Fete

Toronto is soon to be awash in vibrant colours, feathers, bejeweled costumes and a whole lotta “wining” to hype soca beats! LOL It’s Caribana time here in Toronto and the city will be flooded with people ready to lively up themselves. Of course your girls, Gail and Leslie will be among the revelers so follow along to see what they’ll be wearing to their next fete!

The Lowdown from Leslie

Y’all unless I’m actually going to a proper soca fete, I usually go for a more dressed-up look for Caribana weekend in my city. Now if I was in a place like Trinidad, Barbados, Grenada or even Miami, it would be a different story!LOL

Top: Zara (old, similar here and here ) // Skirt: House of CB London // Shoes: ASOS //

I got you covered too my beautiful plus size babes: Top // Skirt //

For this look I went for sheer and fitted with a long hemline. I picked up this metallic mesh top at Zara last summer because I loved the long-sleeved elegance, but the utter sheerness makes it so sexy! The only problem with it ladies is that if it gets caught on anything, it’s a wrap. The thread will pull and ruin the top. This happened to me, but I tried to MacGyver something with it. The pulled thread is less obvious, but man-oh-man it is there.

This skirt sucks and tucks everything in. I scooped it up from House of CB London and I’ve never regretted it, and it’s on sale! Now, a little disclaimer about this skirt. It is very fitted and pulls everything in, even if you don’t want it to!lol  I wish it wouldn’t compact my already small booty, but it does a bit, but as you can see, I’m still feeling myself in this look. I love that it showcases my small waistline and the curve of my hip, something us slim girls are always trying to achieve (i.e. that hourglass shape). It also has a zipper detail all the way up the back which is a lovely detail. As it is so fitted, and it’s a midi length skirt with a not so high split at the back, you will definitely wiggle when you walk!lol Ok, maybe not wiggle, but if you like to take long strides, kiss those strides goodbye in this skirt. You can still walk, but you will take very ladylike small steps (don’t worry, you won’t look crazy! I practiced in the mirror when I first bought it!:-)

I dialed my accessories all the way down with this look. I only rocked some fun gold earrings and the regular rotation 2 gold rings I always wear. For the shoes, I went with these clear high heeled mules that I just ADORE as they go with E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!

I’m ready to do a nice slow whine to some good tunes! PULLLLL-UPPPPP!!!! (insert all those horns you hear at reggae parties!lol)

What Gail’s Givin’ Us

Dress: Fashionnova Curve and the same dress is available in straight sizes! // Pumps: Nine West (old) similar here //

All right party people it’s that time of year. We jumpin and wavin cause it’s Caribana time in Toronto! For this year’s look I went with a neon lime green mini dress chile!

This one shoulder dress has tons of stretch and features a fun detail at the shoulder of the sleeves along with a zipper detail at the wrist.

As you’ve probably noticed the hemline on this bad boy is mid-thigh – time to show off those legs ladies. Remember, thick thighs save lives! LOL

I completed this look by adding printed pumps that I will eventually “dash way”, as my Caribbean parents would say, when my feet start begging for mercy! LOL

And that’s the long and short of it!

Gail & Leslie xoxo
