We the North may apply to the Toronto Raptors but as far as we’re concerned Hilary Macmillan’s new collection is also a WINNER so to quote Beyoncé – Bow Down… you know the rest! If you did not see all our Instagram coverage, allow us the pleasure of informing you that Ms. MacMillan’s gorgeous collection now comes in both straight and plus size! (insert happy twerk here!)
As you may have guessed, we are elated that she has expanded her collection to dress women of ALL sizes desirous of fashion forward pieces that suit their style sensibilities. This is no real surprise though as she continually demonstrates her genuine commitment to women in fashion and in the community by giving back to organizations like Up With Women, a “growing registered charity dedicated to helping recently homeless and at-risk women to build sustainable, prosperous careers”. Her company is also a “wholly women run, women staffed, Canadian company!” Can you say, “Who Runs the World- GIRLS”!
MacMillan’s Spring/Summer 2020 presentation in early September demonstrated her contemporary playfulness with colour, print and texture. She is also an aficionado when it comes to a great jacket or coat.
Season after season she brings us pieces with great finishes and interesting textures that transcends the traditional creating the trend setting. And her use of faux leather in patent and/or textured lends an extra luxurious quality to those looks!
But, for all you fashion devotees trying to pay for a roof over your head, be able to eat and look like a millie at the same time, do not fret because MacMillan’s kept our pocket book in mind! Her pieces are affordable and with the beautiful lines of the garments she creates, they will easily transition from one year to the next.
We have been following (some might say stalking) Hilary MacMillan’s work for a number of years now and we are so very impressed with her collections season after season.
Hilary, we just can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!
And that’s the long and short of it!
Gail & Leslie xoxo
