A great fitting pair of dreams is just so necessary. They can be dressed up for a night on the town, make for the perfect addition to a business casual look or just a plain ol’ casual look for running errands in. The versatility just can’t be beat! And speaking of business business casual this look would be perfect for the office (minus the rolled up tank up to reveal my mid-section).
These black jeans are so COMFORTABLE and fit so well. Normally when I buy pants or jeans I have to make sure I purchase them to fit the larger part of my body – my hips and posterior. As a result, the waist is ALWAYS far too big. Thankfully, this is not the case with Universal Standard. These jeans fit perfectly – no gaping at the waist at all and let me tell you why! Universal Standard added an encased elastic at the back waist band that is hidden thus – no gaps at the waist! WOOHOO!
I got these high rise waist jeans in a size L which according to the Universal Standard size guide is a size 22/24. The one thing I will say is that as a short plus size woman are a little on the long side. I’m hoping that Universal Standard will add this jean style to the petite section – actually I’m just thrilled that they even have petites.
So, about that versatility – here’s a denim on denim look aka the “Canadian Tuxedo”. This look is perfect for either running errands (and yes, what not show a little smidgen of mid section while grocery shopping) or chilling with friends (when things finally open up we can safely visit with friends again 🙁 ).
Denim Shirt: Anthropologie sold out (similar here ) (straight size version here )
When I put this outfit together the little song running through my head comes from several instagram reels where a song is played on repeat saying, “The streets are calling me name, I’m going to the streets – THIS SUMMER!” LOL
This outfit is about being out and about with friends, again, when its safe to do so.

A great fitting pair of jeans is an absolute wardrobe essential for your girl. Not a week goes by where I don’t slip into my jeans, and finding the right fit is the key to “jeans success”! That’s why we need to take our time, do the research and try on a lot of jeans before we find the right one! You know they say you gotta kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince? Well, the same can be said for jeans!lol
If you want to be a little trendy, the high-waisted jean is all the rage. You can do it in skinny or wide, cropped or long, whichever way you choose, you’ll definitely be on trend. For me I am in love with a skinny jean. I love that I can easily dress them up with heels or wear them with flats or sandals and I’m good to go, no need to fret too much about hem length!
I usually go for a light blue wash with my jeans, but I wanted to do a little something different with this look. I went with this grey/black colur that is so easily dressed up for going out (yes, I’m dreaming about when we can be out in the streets living our best lives)! But they also work perfectly with my cute ballet flats and a jacket when I’m running errands.
The stretch in these jeans is incredible! I got them in a size 2, but I could actually have gone down a size, but I wanted to be as comfy as possible and I was not sure just how stretchy they would be. I went with the “long” length which is a 32inch inseam. I do wish their inseams went up to at least a 36 inch for my taller ladies though, but otherwise, they are fantastic!
Now I know some of you may look at the cost of jeans and be like “umm, that’s a lot”! But you really need to look at them as a cost per wear item. If you are in your jeans all the time, weekly if not daily, you are easily getting your money’s worth. And sure many of you, like me, have purchase some cheaper pair of jeans trying to save money and ended up staining your fingers with the dye from the jeans. Not a good look right?
And of course, we just had to show you how we would wear these jeans in different ways, because the reality is, we wear our jeans in so many ways and that is important for us – versatility baby!
Kimono: JC Penny (old, similar here) // Scarf: Hermes (old, similar here) // Shoes: Zara //
For my plus size babes: Kimono //
Kimonos have been around for a while now and I have never really jumped on the bandwagon, but I did have this one in my closet from a couple of years ago and loved how they paired with the jeans and wedge sandals to create an easy breezy, vacationy look!
Shirt: Zara (old, similar here) // Shoes: ASOS (old, similar here //
For my plus size lovelies: Shirt //
The oversized shirt is a big spring trend, so I really wanted to rock these jeans with a shirt to show how I will be rolllign out this summer (yes, all being well, we will be out and about this summer!).
All I can say is that these jeans have become my new faves, and yes, I will be everywhere in them this spring/summer/fall and winter!;-)
And that’s the long & short of it!
